Who is eligible to apply?
Students entering their junior or senior year may apply for all programs except pharmacy technology which is available to seniors only.

Are there any expenses to attend Early Technical College?
Yes!  However, Early Technical College students will not be required to pay tuition nor will they incur the expense of textbooks or tools/equipment because these exxpenses are incurred by the Dual Enrollment grant and CMCSS.

What advantages will students experience by participating in Early Technical College programs?
Students graduating from the ETC will have:

• Met Tennessee high school graduation requirements.
• Removed the TCAT program wait list barrier.
• Cultivated problem-solving skills.
• Enhanced professionalism and sel-sufficiency.
• Obtained TCAT program credentials and certifications becoming more marketable in an ever growing global workfforce.
• Participated in work-related activities and experiences. (Pharmacy Tech students participate in Clinicals ater high school graduation.)

Can I earn a CMCSS diploma and a TCAT diploma?
Motivated and driven students who enter ETC as juniors have the unique opportunity to graduate from both CMCSS and TCAT simultaneously. While you will graduate with a CMCSS diploma, you will also have the chance to earn industry certifications from TCAT. Most students will complete their program of study after finishing high school. Graduating as a CMCSS student in good standing at TCAT provides Early Technical College students with priority entry to TCAT in their program of study, allowing ETC students to go to the top of the waiting list. Motivated and driven students who enter ETC as juniors have the unique opportunity to graduate from both CMCSS and TCAT simultaneously when participating in three of our programs - HAC/R, Industrial Electrical Maintenance/Mechatronics, or Machine Tool Technology.  

What is the daily schedule?

• 10:30 - 11:18 - 1st Block
• 11:18 - 11:52 - Lunch
• 11:52 - 12:41 - 2nd Block
• 12:46 - 1:11 - Advisory
• 1:16 - 2:04 - 3rd Block
• 2:04 - 2:25 - Break or Academic Support Sessions
• 2:30 - 5:30 - Dual Enrollment TCAT programs - Diesel, HAC, IEMM, MTT, PHT

If accepted as a junior, what are the requirements and obligations to remain in the ETC program?
ETC requires students to work at or ahead of pacing in both their academic course and TCAT programs of study. We operate from an "I'm adulting" perspective. In their senior year, students must apply for the dual enrollment grant and complete their TCAT program application online.

Is transportation provided?
CMCSS bus transportation is available to and from the TCAT for students who need it.
